Applied Maths HL
2026-2027

Applied Maths is a fantastic subject to prepare a student for a career in science, engineering, finance and many other technical area. It prepares students for such college courses like no other subject. Throughout the curriculum students are constantly asked to examine the applications of Maths which leads to huge improvements in  their general mathematical ability.

The trilogy of Maths, Applied Maths and Physics cross over in so many ways. Our teacher John Winters graduated with a Science degree, in which he studied all three of these subjects, but he also holds a Masters Degree in Mathematical Science where his specialisation was Applied Maths. This high level training in the subject coupled with over 30 years experience teaching in secondary schools in Ireland makes him the number one choice for students who are serious about this subject.

The new syllabus in Applied Maths has plugged the holes which were created when the Leaving Certificate Maths course changed over a decade ago.

Days & Times

The course includes a weekly grind which takes place every Wednesday evening from 6.45 p.m. – 8.00 p.m .
